Here is some news from Kew Gardens to share with you.
The “new build” is progressing very well. We see the extension taking shape every day and are so excited for the new services it will bring once completed. We will provide you with a ‘sneak peek’ in our next edition with photography to show the work completed. The building is truly superb and we are really looking forward to its overall completion. An interesting observation you may have also noticed: we had a large crane on top of the new build to be able to move heavy equipment/building materials. Last month, we watched a very big crane on the ground take down another big crane. The street was closed to be able to do this complex work safely. It was quite the show!
Our internal renovations at Kew Gardens have recently seen the opening of the new gymnasium, as well as the 45-seat Gold Class cinema. Both amenities are proving to be wonderful additions for all our Residents to enjoy.
The opening of the cinema saw a special event – the film “Casablanca” – shown in black and white. It was terrific to see Humphrey Bogart on the “big screen” and of course Ingrid Bergman was simply stunning. The choc tops and bubbly were also a big hit!
Our Activities Program is, as always, interesting, varied and full of great events. 2024, opened with the New Year’s Eve party, followed by colourful Australia Day celebrations. This year, we are also planning for school
choirs to provide concerts and intergenerational days and events, as well as all the usual fun and frivolity.
Our Personal Care Assistant student placement program is back up and running very well and we are enjoying seeing new faces come to work with us, to learn and grow as they study. This is very rewarding for the staff who are conducting the training with the students as well.
Kew Gardens is enjoying a busy and happy start to 2024, as we complete all the renovations/building works, so we continue to grow and flourish in our beautiful facility.
