The Lifestyle team plays such an important part in providing the best quality of life for our residents at Kew Gardens.
We treat all our residents with respect and as individuals. We provide individual programs specifically designed by assessing the resident’s upbringing, personality, likes, dislikes, religious beliefs, cultural background, cognitive and physical abilities as well as the activities they used to enjoy.
A tailored lifestyle program is developed that aims to meet the resident’s needs, preferences and goals. It offers a diverse range of activities that are not just ‘a nice-to-have’ but play a key part in promoting wellbeing and a healthy lifestyle.
The team also provides emotional support to both the residents and their families. We ensure the residents feel safe and secure and that they have a sense of purpose.
During the Christmas period, we had some great activities throughout December. There were three Christmas concerts, Residents and Relatives Xmas drinks & nibbles, a speaker, Christmas High Tea lunch, Christmas happy hour and a New Year’s Eve party to finish off the year with a big bang!!!
We hope you’re having a wonderful start to 2024 and look forward to sharing all the great activities we have to come!
What’s been going on so far!
- Residents & Relatives Christmas Drinks & Nibbles: The party was a chance for residents and families to celebrate Christmas together. There were hot & cold savoury petit fours as well as the traditional Christmas cake & fruit mince pies to enjoy and the drinks were flowing freely. Pianist/Vocalist “Brian Espiner” entertained us by singing all the old favourite Christmas carols.
- Choir: one of resident’s daughter ‘Katie’ brought her choir in to sing Christmas carols for the residents, relative & staff. It was very beautiful.
- New Years Eve Party: Pianist/Vocalist “David Rothberg” entertained. The residents sang & danced while enjoying a couple of glasses of bubbly.
- Bus Outing to “Movies & Dinner”: The residents enjoyed going the Balwyn cinema to watch ‘Ferrari’ followed by dinner at a local Pizzeria.
- Bus Outing to “B-24 Liberator Memorial Museum”: The residents enjoyed a trip the museum to see all the old war planes but the highlight was when resident “Max” sat at the control panel of a replica of the plane he flew in WW2. It was a very beautiful and emotional moment.
Best wishes,
Karen and the Lifestyle Team.
