Welcome to Summer everyone!
The past 24 months have been exceptionally challenging for most of us. Maintaining positivity has been a focus and priority for the Kew Gardens Community, as we rally together to support the ever-changing needs and requirements of care in a challenging COVID-19 climate.
We have continued to adapt and improve our organisational structure throughout the year. We have employed some of the very best talent available with some exciting new appointments both within the AACG and Kew Gardens management teams.
We have appointed Gene Cayetano as Care Manager for Kew Gardens. Gene has been working at Kew as the nurse in charge on the First Floor for a number of years. She has stepped into the role following a competitive process for the position. Many of our residents and relatives already know Gene very well and are very pleased with the promotion.
An innovative and interesting role created this year to assist the wider AACG team is that of the ‘Chief Nurse’ – a role ably filled by Kevin Geronimo who was previously the Care Manager at Kew Gardens Aged Care. Kevin has a keen interest in clinical governance and the delivery of excellent care.
The Chief Nurse role has been implemented as a response to the ever-changing environment created by the Royal Commission into Aged Care and many new legislative requirements under the Aged Care Act 1997. Kevin is very excited by the opportunity and he will have a strong influence on the delivery and quality of care and the Clinical Governance expectations of the Government.
The AACG Management team believes there will be some great outcomes for our residents and relatives with both sites having a strong overseeing team working together for quality care and continuous improvements.
We are blessed to work with some fantastic clinicians who contribute so positively to the high standard of clinical care at Kew Gardens. It is always a pleasure to be in a position to promote from within.
These have been very stressful times. I’m proud of our team for being so resilient and acknowledge the personal impact this current COVID climate has had. I am thankful to work with such an amazing, supportive team, who not only care about our residents and their employment obligations, but also care about each other as well.
If you need support with your mental health, I’m always available and so is Adam from Enact Health – an initiative our CEO has sourced to support us during COVID times. If you need help to access Adam, you can scan any of the QR Codes on the Health Breaks posters that are throughout the facility or message me and I will pass on his number.
Wishing you and your families a very Merry Christmas and healthy and happiness in the New Year!
