Kew Gardens Summer Edition 2023 – Director of Care Message

Director of Care Message

I am very pleased to have joined Australian Aged Care Group as Director of Care at Kew Gardens. I am excited by the opportunity to be a part of an organisation with such an excellent name in premium aged care.

For me, this position offers many new and exciting challenges that I am eager to pursue. Kew Gardens is
already a beautiful home and with the new extension and concurrent renovations, it will be outstanding.

My background is as a registered nurse, commencing at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and working in various other hospitals before moving into aged care approximately 20 years ago.

I lived and worked on the Mornington Peninsula for many years and then more recently with Aveo Freedom at The George in Sandringham, which was retirement with aged care, and then most recently
for MACG in Parkdale.

As mentioned, I lived on the Mornington Peninsula for over 30 years at Mount Martha where we raised our three children. Now, they are all grown up and are living their own lives, I have moved to Elwood near the beach. I love going for long walks there in all weather conditions. My other passion is reading. I am a prolific reader of a variety of genres and also love going to the movies.

I have met quite a few of our Kew Gardens residents during my wanderings around the facility and at the residents’ meeting. I am looking forward to getting to know all of you.

Kew Gardens is a family-run home and our commitment is to ensure every resident is treated with dignity and respect with their identity, culture and diversity valued.

This is your home and I would urge all of you to be involved in not just the activities and the community but also in ensuring we have a collaborative process in making your home to be what you want it to be.

I encourage you to share your feedback and ideas too. “… Wisdom is the reward of experience and should be shared…” (Author Unknown).

There are feedback forms available at reception and on our website. However, you are always welcome to come and see me or I can come to see you.
